Hello, my name is Dr. Michael Coppola and I specialize in relieving chronic neck, back, and shoulder aches and pains.  Whether the pain started after a traumatic injury, or after years of building up, I can help. My path into the healthcare field began through my own need for pain relief.  As a young man I had made a living through manual labor.  I moved furniture for years, and was a mason's assistant for long enough.  After lugging around refrigerators and digging ditches for a living, I became familiar with back aches and pains.  I found relief through chiropractic care.  My new found freedom was also my motivation to switch professions.  After completing a holistic health practitioner program in 1997, I practiced massage therapy under the guidance of great chiropractors and acupuncturists.  I continued my education, and in 2005 I received my Doctorate in Chiropractic, and in 2006 I received my Master's in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, completing my thesis on diabetes and blood sugar metabolism treatment.

Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine, under the belief that these disorders affect general health via the nervous system. It is the largest alternative medical profession, and although chiropractors have many similarities to primary care providers, they are more similar to a medical specialty like dentistry or podiatry. The main chiropractic treatment technique involves manual therapy, especially manipulation of the spine, other joints, and soft tissues, but may also include exercises and health and lifestyle counseling. The "specific focus of chiropractic practice" is chiropractic subluxation. Traditional chiropractic assumes that a vertebral subluxation or spinal joint dysfunction interferes with the body's function and its innate intelligence. A chiropractor is a person who practices chiropractic, specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health.

Acupuncture (from Latin, 'acus' (needle) 'punctura' (to puncture)) is a form of alternative medicine and a key component of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)involving inserting thin needles into the body at acupuncture points. It can be associated with the application of heat, pressure, or laser light to these same points. Acupuncture is commonly used for pain relief, though it is also used for a wide range of conditions. Clinical practice varies depending on the country. It is rarely used alone but rather as an adjunct to other forms of treatment.
