GORGEOUS GLUTEN FREE BIRTHDAY CAKE!
I was looking for a place that would make a gluten-free carrot cake for my friend's surprise birthday party. I called a few places and while many had gluten free-options, not carrot. Shannon said "sure" and then asked what I needed, how big and what I wanted for decorations. She even offered a delivery option.
The cake was gorgeous and the birthday girl loved it. My friend was surprised that it was gluten-free and everyone else at the table just thought it was a delicious carrot cake with rich and creamy frosting.

Today we celebrated our daughters 1st birthday and we got the cake from Dreamy Sweets Pastries. The cake was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. They did a fantastic job and it tasted great everybody loved it especially the birthday girl.

HIDDEN LITTLE GEM IN SAN CLEMENTE!
Dreamy Sweets Pastries is like a hidden little gem in San Clemente.
Tucked away in the historic Old City Plaza, right across the lot from a very good Chinese restaurant called New Mandarin Garden, Dreamy Sweets Pastries is home to pretty much anything and everything sweet you can imagine. Muffins, pastries, cupcakes, brownies, cake pops, cookies, lemon bars - they whip 'em all up every day except Sunday and Monday (they're closed those days), and they're all quite fantastic and delicious. I'm especially fond of the chocolate chocolate chip and blueberry muffins, but everything I've tried here has been delicious and fresh.
They even started serving tasty quiche here lately, and you can have all kinds of cakes custom-made and ordered to your liking, for just about any occasion. You can also find a nice, fresh cup of coffee here for under $2.
The owner and chief baker, Shannon, is a fantastic baker, a wonderful person and a truly creative powerhouse. She hand draws and paints all the signage in and around the shop, and is always warm, welcoming and engaging to her visitors. Walking into Dreamy Sweets Pastries feels like walking into a neighborhood bakery from some simpler, sweeter, bygone era in America - almost like something you'd find on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland - minus the inflated prices and long lines.
If you do discover and sample the goods at Dreamy Sweets Pastries, you'll probably find yourself coming back for more and more and more. At least that's been my story. Old City Plaza as a whole can also be a lot of fun to explore. There's usually plenty of parking available in the big lot that the shops encircle too.

Found this place here on Yelp and lete tell you the 5 stars is not enoug for Dreamy Sweets. I love peanut butter cookies and let me tell you they are the best I have ever had.

LOVE DREAMY SWEETS!
Delicious! Home made from scratch. Love the fresh cinnamon rolls in the morning. Their cupcakes are moist and taste just like if mom made them. If you're used to overly processed cupcakes from places like sprinkles this might not be for you! Lemon bars are another favorite of mine and the cake pops are to die for. The people are always friendly and helpful! LOVE Dreamy Sweets.

Ok this place is amazing. I got the miracle bar which was full of chewy oatmeal chocolate goodness husband got the apple pie and said it was the best he's ever had (and this man knows his apple pies!).

EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!
I love this place! My family has been coming here since they opened this location. We probably visit them at least once a week. Everything we have had is delicious. My favorite is the miracle bar but my teenager loves their chocolate chip cookie pie and my husband always gets either a peanut butter cookie or a cupcake. They recently put in refrigerated treats such as tiramisu and cannolis. They look so good. A must try for next time.
Shannon and Steve, along with their cute kids, are always so friendly and accommodating. I once told them about our daughters love for the cookie pie and mentioned I would be around on Wed and sure enough, they saved one for me. The place feels so homey. It reminds me of walking into my mother's kitchen when she is baking.
This place is a must try for anyone who loves homemade treats!

PINEAPPLE UNDER THE SEA CAKE, SPONGEBOB WOW!

Needed a Spongebob themed cake. Found out you can't find him in the stores anymore. Dreamy Sweets did a fabulous job creating the "pineapple under the sea." I told her to do whatever she wanted and oh my gosh how creative. Would have never thought of that. It was gorgeous, hated cutting into it, but when we did 3 thick layers of yummy cake, 2 of chocolate and 1 of red velvet separated by decadent butter cream frosting. It was a hit with my 18 year old son and his friends.

GLUTEN FREE CAROT CAKE,
BEST I EVER HAD!
Dreamy Sweets Pastries made us a gluten free carrot cake that was one of the best carrot cakes we have ever had gluten free or not! It was decorated so cute and was a big hit at the party we took it to. We also took some regular chocolate bunny cakes that were also awesome! Thanks Dreamy Sweets!

SOFT BAKED CINNAMON ROLLS, PERFECT!
Received an offer, in the Money Mailer, I couldn't refuse. Free coffee with cinnamon roll purchase. I'm not a sweet craver but anything with cinnamon sets off alarms for me. Shannon and Steve are the best. If they had an inside table and chairs I would have felt like I was sitting in my family kitchen enjoying a freshly baked roll with good friends. The cinnamon roll was right out of the oven. The aroma is as delicious as the flavor. I like mine kinda "soft baked" which is exactly what I got with the edges a bit crusty. Oh my. Coffee was great. They are just down the street from Linda Lane so I enjoyed my coffee and roll watching the surf roll in. Perfect!

When you are tired of tasteless market pastries do a search for this hidden little gem. Lost in a strip mall most people pass by, this small family business welcomes you with friendliness and good eats. When we had a special birthday party with outrageous demands for special art on two different cakes, Shannon came through in spades! The cakes were photographed more than the people at the party. Job well done and one that very few bakeries could do or even try. Nothing beats the entrepreneurial spirit of a local business.

SUPER FRESH & DELICIOUS!
After eating dinner in Dana Point, we were looking for something sweet. We found this little gem of a place and it did not disappoint. The case had lots of goodies decorated for Easter. We all shared a chocolate brownie, chocolate sponge cake bunny and white cake/choc frosted bird nest. All were super fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back!

I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN HAPPIER!
I chose Dreamy Sweets to take care of my wedding cake and cupcakes and am so glad and could not have been happier! Shannon was so incredibly helpful and supportive. I was pretty relaxed about the whole thing and was mostly anxious because I knew what I wanted everything to taste like, but had no ideas about how I wanted it to look. Shannon was incredibly helpful in this regard and everything turned out beautifully! She made us 4 different flavors of cupcake and a small wedding cake for us to cut at the reception. Everyone raved about how delicious they were. Most weddings I've been to the cake tends to fall short -- I think aesthetics usually win out over flavor. Not the case here! Everything looked beautiful and fit in with my sunflower theme and tasted good. I was concerned the cupcakes wouldn't be as go since they'd been sitting out, but they were incredibly moist! The vanilla cupcake had real vanilla bean in it! So delicious!
In addition to her skills as a baker and business woman, Shannon is incredibly sweet. She even left us a wedding card when she dropped the cakes off. If I ever recover from planning my wedding and choose to have another party, I will definitely use Dreamy Sweets again!

WEDDING CAKE OF MY DREAMS!
Shannon at Dreamy Sweets Pastries made me the wedding cake of my dreams! I wasn't the easiest bride to deal with. I had a lot of ideas, and I wasn't sure if I would be able to find anyone to put them all together and build me a cake that would be the centerpiece of my fantasy wedding. But for Shannon it was no problem. I had a vague idea of a woodland-themed wedding to complement the season (autumn) and the location, a rustic adobe in Vista. I sent her some pictures hoping she would understand what I wanted. No problem at all. She took what I showed her and everything else I told her and made that cake better than I could have imagined. I also wanted a cake that would taste delicious as well as looking good. I've been to a lot of weddings where the cake has so much fondat that it's barely edible. Not this cake. Everything on the cake was edible and delicious. I almost felt bad eating such a work of art, though!
I would highly recommend Dreamy Sweets for a wedding or any occasion. Shannon really cares about the brides she works with, and works harder than anyone else I know of to make sure that they get the cake of their dreams!

Shannon made the most beautiful cake for our daughters wedding with 200 guests everyone was raving about the beauty and the amazing taste. My daughter gave her a picture with some ideas and she designed the perfect cake. She had it all laid out at the reception view to match the design, absolutely beautiful.
